The Hotel Avery is located on an infill site within the Historic Downtown Truckee district. Infill development in and of itself is one of the purest forms of sustainable development; making use of a site that had previously been developed. The Hotel design will include use of reclaimed lumber and other recycled materials. Current plans call for a green roof above the main entry porch and solar panels on the upper roof for electrical and hot water generation. Parking for the Hotel will be all self-contained directly below ground underneath the footprint of the Hotel. Guests will be able to leave their vehicle and walk to the Historic Downtown Truckee commercial core.
The Hotel Avery land use maximizes the public experience along the river. Whether you are enjoying the view from the proposed restaurants dinning terrace, or taking a breather at one of the viewing areas during a walk or bike ride, the design encourages interaction with the river while protecting its sensitive buffer area.
