A Truckee Asset

Truckee is a jewel of the Sierra. It is a destination mecca in its own right.

Truckee serves as a vehicular gateway to the North Shore of Lake Tahoe with a majority of vehicles continuing to area ski resorts and Lake Tahoe. Hotel Avery aims to support Truckee as a destination while reinvigorating Historic Downtown Truckee. This will be accomplished by creating employment opportunities for local residents in order to contribute to a stable, year-round economy that serves a diversity of users.

The proposed Hotel Avery project plans to reduce reliance on automobiles, avoid additional pressure on limited existing parking and provide a venue for citizens, visitors and local groups to meet, dine and enjoy the Truckee Riverfront. This will be consistent with the vision of the Truckee citizens who worked on the Downtown Specific Plan and the River Revitalization Strategy.

A Truckee Original

Hotel Avery is consistent with the principles and guidelines of the Truckee Downtown Specific Plan. Hotel Avery's plans include a landscaped open space area that invites guests onto the site to sit and rest or view the Truckee River. The project is also providing an important opportunity for public art to occur within the streetscape and landscaped areas. The landscape plan will re-establish native species that have been eliminated from a majority of this site through previous disturbance, resulting in an enhancement of the habitat that will continue to be preserved along the River's edge.

Operations

Hotel Avery is planned to operate like a traditional hotel with approximately 55 well appointed hotel rooms and suites. The hotel reception area will include a lobby seating area with stone fireplace, a river-view restaurant and bar, underground valet parking, and a fitness/spa area for hotel guests. The restaurant will be open to the public and will include indoor and outdoor dining facing the Truckee River. The parking is planned to be operated as a valet parking area for both hotel guests and members of the public using the restaurant/bar.

Hotel Avery embraces the Redevelopment Principles adopted by Truckee's Downtown River Revitalization Strategy by providing access to the river and a place for community gatherings and events (both indoor and outdoor). Furthermore, in addition to public art, the project hopes to incorporate an interpretive element to the river access points that will educate the public on historic uses.
